The holidays are here, and Columbia is the perfect place to celebrate the season. Residents and visitors from all over the state come here to participate in some of the area’s most exciting
festivals and you can be sure that there is something for everyone to enjoy. Below are just some of Columbia’s most popular merriments.
Running through the end of December, Historic Columbia is presenting the Historic Holiday Tour. The daily tour starts at The Gift Shop at Robert Mills and takes visitors through the Robert Mills House and Hampton-Preston Mansion while sharing stories of 19th and 20th-century traditions.
Saluda Shoals Park is hosting Holiday Lights on the River until New Years Eve. From 6pm until 10pm, patrons are invited to drive through the spectacular light show with more than a million sparkling lights and over 400 animated light displays. In addition, the park offers hayride shuttles, crafts, visits with Santa, and much more.
Riverbanks Zoo & Garden also has a fantastic light show going on nightly. The Lights Before Christmas has been a Columbia tradition for over 25 years and lasts until December 30th. Visits with Santa, the Jingle Bell Bonfire, hot cocoa, s’mores, and other festivities will be on hand until 9pm.
Those looking for a little outdoor recreation will love the City of Columbia’s outdoor ice skating rink, Main Street ICE. Located at Boyd Plaza at the corner of Main and Hampton Streets, the ice rink returns for its sixth season of holiday fanfare.
And, what is Christmas without The Polar Express? Running until January 5th, the South Carolina State Museum is providing a one of a kind 4-D experience with 3-D visual effects paired with tactile occurrences like blasts of air, vibrating seats, and sprays of water.
From all of us at Lady Street Builders, we send our warmest thoughts and best wishes for a wonderful holiday and a very happy new year.
